SUSTAINABILITY

It is our responsibility as a fashion brand to design, manufacture and deliver in the most ethical way possible. There are no shortcuts to achieving lasting quality; we carefully select our materials and work with skilled artisans who share our commitment to ethical practices so that when you shop with us, you can be confident that you are not only investing in high-quality, luxurious pieces, but also contributing to a more sustainable future.

We continue to strive to further reduce our carbon footprint and ensure its impact is considered throughout the process; from fabric sourcing and production to packaging - we are dedicated to fashioning exquisite silk clothing that allows you to indulge in opulent yet sustainable fabrics through all of life’s adventures.

Offcuts of silk and left-over materials are put to good use to make accessories to compliment the collections. This maximises the use of the materials we use and minimises waste of precious fabrics. 

FABRICS

We choose to source silk from China because it honours the birthplace of silk-making, where thousands of years of expertise ensure the finest quality and craftsmanship. This decision reflects a dedication to preserving traditional artistry while offering luxurious, sustainable materials, allowing you to wear timeless pieces that feel as meaningful as they are beautiful.

We use a mixture of 100% natural silk and silk with added stretch for comfort. Although taking it away from 100% natural fibre, this small 5% of elastane is certified to have minimal environmental impact. Our supply chain is certified ensuring pieces are produced ethically, sustainably, and to the highest possible quality.

To reduce water and fabric wastage we digitally print whenever possible. Where fabrics are dyed, we only use certified non-toxic colourants, with Azo and phthalates-free dyes ensuring our pieces contain no materials that could be harmful to your skin, or the planet. We've selected fabric suppliers who align with caring for the planet and have achieved SGS certification to support their environmentally concious values.  

MANUFACTURE

Continuing our commitment to sustainability, we work with independent seamstresses & small factories where the happiness and wellbeing of workers is paramount. Championing British manufacture, we produce in the UK, mostly in London, in very small quantities with a division of silk specialist seamstresses dedicated to hand making our beautiful collections. This approach not only supports local artisans but also allows us to maintain a transparent and controlled production process with minimal environmental impact. To minimise waste, we repurpose off-cuts for accessories and donate unused fabrics through our network of seamstresses. Maimie London celebrates 'slow fashion' with our timeless capsule collection that's made to last.

PACKAGING

Our packaging is 100% recyclable, reusable and responsibly sourced and manufactured in the UK with a transition to mostly paper and cardboard packaging underway. We refresh our brand from time to time and ensure all materials and packaging are not wasted as we transition to the newer branded packaging.
